Confessions of a Hoarder

It's true. I. Am. A. Hoarder.

But not like the kind you see on TLC. I am a good ideas, cute pictures, recipes and things I want to do hoarder. This has been manifested in my collection of magazines shoved in a cabinet, the numerous list of favorites I have in my explorer bar, and the millions (really, I mean it probably IS millions) of sticky notes and lists I have written in my lifetime about things I need to do, things I want to do, things I want to buy, goals, etc.  I just would hate to lose any of those good things!

The Internet Gods have answered my prayers and now there is Pintrest. Most of you probably dont know what Pintrest is, but it is a sort of digital hoarding. It is a website where you can create your own boards and "pin" or tag items of interest to it from websites or other peoples "pins." These boards then have a collection of pictures that link to websites or photographs. They serve as bookmarks and reminders for the things you want to keep, but all digitally (and best of all, they take up no physical space in your home, like stacks of magazines or recipe books)!

So if you are a pintrest member, you have probably "unfollowed" me by now due to my excessive pinning, but if not, you should join pintrest (or follow me here) so that you can post great things too and so I am not the only one wasting my time (I mean, I really do stay up late doing this, its ruining my beauty sleep).

Another winter, another Jean Jacket

The first time I ever went out with Shawn was when a friend from work, Wayne, Shawn and I went out to dinner after work. It was a cold night and shawn was wearing a jean jacket. I thought "what is this kid wearing, a jean jacket?!" I didn't bring a heavy jacket and we parked far away from where we ate so we had to walk and I was cold. Shawn, being the gentleman that he is, offered me his jacket. I had to refuse his offer though, because it was a jean jacket (and also way too big for me)!! What I didn't yet know was that he didn't just wear his jean jacket with his work outfits, but also with his denim pants (and even I, unfashoinable me, know that's a fashion no-no). I think this is ironic because Shawn is the resident fashion police on our aisle at work, constantly criticizing Erin and I for our shoes (really, can boat shoes be as bad as a jean jacket?).

NO.

While Shawn was on rotation working at the Pentagon, Erin and I spent a slow afternoon creating what we think an updated version of Shawn's jacket should be like (he was asking weather he should add patches to the jacket!). So we broke out the glue sticks and scissors, created a dark denim version with Led Zeppelin lyrics, and posted our creation in Shawn's cube.

Our version of an updated denim jacket for Shawn.

Last winter, after Shawn and I started dating, we ended up going jacket shopping. I tried to get him to buy another jacket, anything-  a pea coat, a north face jacket, anything. Much to my dismay, he ended up buying another jean jacket, except this one had brown fuzz on the inside of the collar.

No. Double NO.

This winter I have brought Shawn jacket shopping again, but have not succeeded in convincing him to get a regular jacket (but fortunately he has not bought another jean jacket). It was not until I was helping Shawn move a bit back and I discovered he had a third denim jacket. Where does the madness end? It must be noted that Shawn's X-box character is also dressed in jeans and a denim jacket.

Wedding Season in Atlanta.. or Everywhere!

I am doing lots of Atlanta trip planning lately. I have tons of friends who are getting married down in Atlanta and I will be visiting Atlanta at least 2 or 3 times during the rest of the year! That's a lot of trips for the remaining 5 months of this year.

Audrey's wedding celebration: August 14
Heidi's bridal shower: November 6
Heidi's wedding & celebration: December 18

Shayna is also engaged but I do not know when her wedding is and Stacy and Seth are also getting married in Arizona next year! Thats a lot of people getting married!

Shawn is coming with me and he is very excited to see all of the things I have been talking about in Atlanta. I am also excited to get to do and see some of the things I miss, most of all, my friends!

One thing I will be sure we do each time we visit Atlanta is go to the Center for Puppetry Arts. It is my favorite thing to do in Atlanta. Rumpelstiltskin will be playing during August, in November is The Nightingale, and in December is Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

After the puppet show, you get to go through the museum (which also houses the Sesame street puppets) and you get to go to the workshop where you make your own paper puppet from the show!

Other things we plan to do between these visits include:
  • Visit the Sun Dial Cafe and see Atlanta from a birds-eye point-of-view
  • Visit Decatur & Agnes Scott (and the fun earring store to get new earrings)
  • See a show at the Fox Theater
  • The Atlanta Aquarium
  • Watch the show at the Centennial Park Rings fountain
  • The botanical gardens
  • The zoo

On another note,  I found these very cute shoes online and Shawn surprised me and has ordered me a pair! I am very anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new Toms shoes! I think I will be buying many pairs in the future (especially the sparkly ones)

I can't wait to have kids. I am going to buy these shoes when I do! Tiny Toms!
