Top 10's

I never realized it was so popular, but making and sharing lists of your "Top insert some topic here" seems to happen everywhere I go.

While working on a project at the CAVE, co-workers decided a good way to keep ourselves sane was to make Top favorite lists- Top five cars , Top five songs, Top 5 make you happy while your drunk songs, Top five movie quotes, Top 5 You Tube Videos, etc... There were huge pieces of presentation paper with lists posted all over the room (good for me though that I am a huge fan of lists). Well when they made the "Top 5 movies" list, I was banned from contributing to the list, since
1.) I don't know or watch that many movies &
2.) All of the movies I do watch and like are kids movies.

It became common practice to quiz me on my movie background - "Janae, have you seen insert movie title here?" and of course my answer was almost always "no." The group also thought it was funny to state plots from a movie as if it was something that had happened in their life to see if I would notice. It usually went a little like "This one time, when I was: insert funny movie scenario here." For example, "This one time, when I was in South Africa mining for diamonds...."

So, in attempts to educate me on "must see" movies, the group put a list together of movies I should watch.

Janae's to-watch movie list:

The Departed
Crimson Tide
The Dark Night
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
Hunt for Red October
Down Periscope
Top Gun
Wall Street
Hot Tub Time Machine
300
It's a Wonderful Life
Tropic Thunder
Sideways
War Games
1941
The Hangover
White Men Can't Jump
Date Night
Up in the Air
James Bond
Inglorious Bastards
Sideways

For months I didn't get to cross a single movie off of the list, but now that Shawn has moved in his huge TV and sound system, we are watching more movies and I am starting to check some of them off the list!

As I watch more movies, the past couple of months in the CAVE start to make more sense.

P.S. My top 5 movies would go something like this:

1. Kung Fu panda
2. Ratatouille
3. Up
4. Coraline
5. Meet the Robinsons

I found it funny that while I was at Jury Duty, the Attorney we see most often asked up for our top 3 favorite movies. He says he collects each jurors favorite movies and adds them to his Netflix. His question made me with I was back at the CAVE with all of our interesting lists!

Top 5 reasons I liked our lists in the CAVE:

1. You could see everyone's personalities through their list
2. Good way to reminisce / hear of new things
3. They made you laugh
4. It was a fun distraction from work
5. They made good wall decorations

Taking suggestions for other movies that should be added to the list!
