SUNNY with a chance of Hurricane?

Today at work, before leaving we received an e-mail with regards to Hurricane Earl. We were told we should unplug our computers and monitors from the network and from power, move our hard drives off the floor onto raised tables, and wrap our computers in trash bags to prevent damage for leaks or flooding. I find this a bit extreme given the weather forecast for the next week. Especially since we have never had to follow these procedures for extreme thunderstorms/ tornado cells approaching DC. Anyways, looks like Labor Day Weekend will be great weather!
