Falling in love with the Fall
I hate to say it, but it seems that Fall is unofficially here. And a bit early too. The official start of Fall is Wednesday, September 22, but while leaves in the city aren't yet changing colors, they are falling in mass quantities in my neighborhood (along with the acorns that Gusteau seems to hate because they get lodged up in between his paws). When I went hiking on Labor Day you could see a few leaves had turned red. Other signs of the Fall are the cooler temperatures in the morning and the Fall winds we have been getting, which somehow seem to smell of Fall.
I am upset that Summer is over so quickly. The things I enjoyed most this summer were (in order of increasing enjoyment):
5. Gus gets tired more quickly on shorter walks, making it easier to get a tired pooch!
4. Strong summer storms with thunder
3. Longer days with more daylight!
2. All of the fun outdoor things Shawn and I have done- Hiking, camping, kayaking, & going to the dog park
1. Not having to spend 10 minutes searching for socks and shoes and putting 20+ layers of clothing on just to walk the dog in the morning/evening
Though summer is ending and I am by no means a fan of the winter, I am excited for all of the things that come with the Fall, including my favorite holiday- Halloween!
Things I can't wait to do this Fall:
1. Halloween celebrating
2. Visit Haunted Houses
3. Apple Picking
4. Corn Mazes
5. Pumpkin Carving
6. Long dog walks
7. Hiking before its too cold
8. Cook sweet potato casserole
9. Going home for Thanksgiving
10. Jacket shopping (it's my favorite kind of shopping- and I need a new North Face!)
11. A haunted ghost tour of Alexandria
Some other things I would like to do and sound fun for the fall:
1. Go to a shooting range
2. Have Shawn teach me how to shoot his bow and arrow
3. Renaissance Festival
4. Fall camping
