Down on King St.
It was a lovely day on Saturday, so Bailey, Crystal, Stacy, and I decided to visit King St. in Alexandria. This is an area I had visited twice quickly, but never had the chance to walk around and explore. It is a very cute area. It has one main street (King St.) that you can walk down that has tons of shops and restaurants. We ate lunch at a family owned deli (I had Falafel) and then we got ice cream. It was hard to decided which ice cream parlor to choose, as there was one on each side of the street. One advertised "old fashioned" ice cream, and the other "homemade." These are two very tough choices to decide between. We picked the "old fashioned" ice cream shop, which was set up inside like an old ice cream parlor (I got chocolate chip cookie dough).
We continued walking down King St. until we hit the river. There were several street performers- balloon clowns, guitar players, a guy walking around with a parrot on his shoulder. Among the coolest and most interesting was an old man who had a table set up with tons-TONS of crystal glasses filled with water. He played songs by running his fingers on the edge of the glass. It was amazing because he was playing more complicated songs, while playing several notes at the same time. He was awesome, and talented!
I hope to go back to King St. again- next time with money to shop!
sounds like a cool place.we will have to go there when i get up there.
